I have an iBook SE 466Mhz and wish to upgrade the RAM by installing a 128MB Ram module. I have read that these ibook support PC66 and PC100 type SDRAM, what is the difference? Presumably the PC100 runns at 100Mhz and is faster = better?

Cheers Ry

Well PC66 and PC100 they are different architectures, PC100 is way better an you are better off getting this cause the official RAM for the ibook is PC100
Its not the fact that life is fact, but that life itself is a fact of the unknown....

Being PC100, what speed should the modules be?
PC-100 3-3-3 is what my iBook profiler says, but I guess 2-2-2 would improve perfomance.
Any limitation?

Well, PC100 and PC66 are identical, except that one runs at 66mhz and the other at 100mhz.

The iBook has a 66mhz system bus, so the official RAM would be PC66. But, having said that, PC100 works fine, and in fact, if you plan on selling your iBook and trading it in for a PB, the PC100 would be a better investment.

Yes, the 2-2-2 should be faster. The numbers refer to cycles for access... I can't remember the specifics, but the lower the number, the better. But, on a 66mhz machine like the iBook, this may or may not make a difference.

I just ordered RAM for my iBook, and I received PC100 2-2-2. I did not specify PC100, but that is what came in the mail.
