Lately iChat won't work, I open it, it opens, but freezes, immediately, I can't do anything with it, my mac knows it freezes up, because always, without fail, my first time each time that I right click on the icon in the dock, instead of quit, it always is force quit.
what can I do to make it work?

I never had that problem with iChat.

Might be some corrupted .plist files.

You could try removing all com.apple.ichat*.plist files in /User/username/Library/Preferences/

I also always run repair permissions if I have weird issues happening. Sometimes it helps.

What turtle said. Dump the prefs and also the cache in ~/Library/Caches
