Does anyone have the instant messaging program JiveTalk on their iPhone? Its an IM program that lets you use any IM account. My question is this: can you use jive on the iPhone to send messages to cell phone numbers? If yes, this wouldn't count as sms texts, would it? And would the people's cell phone you message it to see a name, like where it came from? Like, would it be a text on their phone from unkown, or would it be from what your number is in their contact list?

If you're running any IM app on a jailbroken iPhone that lets you send texts over IM, then they're being sent over data and you won't be charged for sms.

I doubt Apple would allow an app like that through the App Store, since it would displease the carriers by cutting into their very lucrative (thousands of dollars per megabyte) sms sales.
