Hi guys / girls,

I stumbled across an older Amiga thread of mine http://forums.macnn.com/89/macnn-lou...cro-amiga-1-a/ and read some of the then opinions... well, guess what, Amiga is still around, with Amiga NG (OS4, PowerPC) going stronger than ever (I know it's a very small market, but very much alive, more than BeOS/ZETA, IRIX and some of the more obscure Linuxes/Unixes).
For the interested people around Sacramento, on October 18th - 20th, please visit AmiWest's offical site .

Not all at once, please!

For those of you who didn't follow the news, let me summarize the results of AmiWest 2013:

- AmigaOne X1000 PowerPC systems will also be sold as motherboard ("Nemo") only
- the next machine ("X2000" for now) has the possibility for three different PowerPC chips (P3041 quadcore, P5020 Dualcore, P5040 Quadcore), and beta tests will start shortly -> investment sum of 1,2 million USD.
- OpenSource 3D API/library Gallium is currently ported to AmigaOS 4
- LibreOffice is currently ported to AmigaOS 4
- FUSE/NTFS filesystem compatability has been ported to AmigaOS 4
- Amistore ( www.amistore.net ) is coming as a web distribution channel for software
- new soundcard for classic Amigas

I had an Amiga 4000 a long time ago. It got me excited about computer graphics and 3D, it was ahead of its time, cool to see that people are still minding the light.

I still have my A4000... the A4000T is a beast. I like the 3000/4000 series especially for their bridging ability from classic OS to PowerPC NG OS, but nowadays pure NG machines are less of a hassle and have way more power than the G2 old school technology.
I'm still waiting for an Amiga NG prosumer machine between the SAM460 and the AmigaOne X1000 behemoth!
