I recently picked up a 366mhz clamshell with firewire off of ebay for pretty cheap. it's in great condition for being as old as it is. I popped in a 512MB SODIMM, and was pretty happy with the results. I want MORE . i found several guides to overclocking the rev A ibooks (300mhz), so i popped open the case (not as hard as some make it out to be), and got down the to logic board and much to my dismay the board is different than the ones shown in the overclocking guides. its a ppc750cxe processor. anyone know if i could oc this computer and how? i'd really appreciate it.

No real reason to.

Hi there I'd just like to say "why not" one thing that seperates us, (power users) from the rest of the digital citizens is our complusive need to upgrade everything, I'm going to pick up one of these and also a cube and get that really nice dual proc 1.5Ghz G4 card for it, I guess in the long run it can be said as "why not"

but it's a laptop. If it's 450mhz instead of 366mhz who really cares. It won't matter much, it'll still be slow.

I would keep trying. As long as you don't mind the risk of destroying it. 400 Mhz should be almost guaranteed (66 x 6) and who knows about a 6.5 multiplier for 430 MHz.

Bear in mind that the Clamshell iBooks do not have a fan - so if you do do this, keep some temperature monitor running and keep wondering if you can smell plastic!

That's for the non-firewire iBook. We're looking for a firewire iBook overclocking guide.
