Yep, Kiefer is serving 48 days total.

I'm sure that after a few hours he'll be out and saving the country again. So it goes with Jack Bauer.

The 40-year-old actor will officially be sentenced Dec. 21, when he must begin serving the 18 days in the county jail. It also is the same day his show begins its winter production break.

Sutherland then will have until July 1, 2008, to serve the remaining 30 days in jail. He will be on probation for five years and faces fines and a driving suspension, according to court documents.

The actor's plea arrangement ensures that production of "24" will not be interrupted, Fox officials said in a statement.

What a joke - if I get convicted of a crime do you think they'd let me serve my jail time on weekends so that it wouldn't interfere with my job?

I guess it depends on if the judge is a fan of your TV show, er, I mean job.

It's the TV show of my life so sadly the viewership is probably too low to hold much sway in court.

24 died sometime earlier this year anyways. Something about CTU all driving around in hybrids and being girly men.
Been inclined to wander... off the beaten track.

I think Jack knows that the show cratered this year. He is going to jail to save it.

I like Jack / Kiefer, but I still hope he has to serve the whole time.

The devaluation of jailtime for celebrities has to end.

If Bauer was pulled over at the peak of 24 he wouldn't have to serve any days in jail.

It happens all the time, especially with DWI sentences. A friend of mine is serving weekends in jail because she didn't learn her lesson after her first DWI.

He's Jack Bauer! No one can keep him locked up! He'll break out and report back to CTU.

This is his second DUI. He makes the Britney/Paris/Lohan brigade look like angels.

She must be really hot to get that kind of treatment. I am still having a hard time believing that they are treating celebrities the same as everyone else.

If you must jail people (and I think repeat DUI offenders are a possible candidate) jailing them for weekends makes sense. After all, you are trying to knock some sense into them, not trying to ruin their life by making them loose their job and go into a spiral of decline that leads to homelessness and more crime.

I'd take it a step further: going to jail everyday and keep going to work. You sleep in your cell every night, leave for work in the morning, and you're back in your cell within 12 hours. Thus, you burn thru a half-day of custody every work day.

Fair enough, the important thing is not to destroy people's lives by jailing them if not absolutely necessary.

Funny that. I figured that the important thing is not to destroy people's lives by running into them or their loved ones whilst you're DUI.

I'd revoke licence for a year on first catch. Revoke licence for 10 years on second catch. 10 years in the clink if caught driving whilst licence revoked. That ought to do it.

It should be reduced for almost everyone - it's reached epidemic proportions.
