Can't install smartmontools (DarwinPorts)?

I just installed DarwinPorts and tried the smartmontools afterwards... The Terminal says this to me, can someone translate it?

And what does config.log say?

It looks like you don't have a compiler installed.

I would agree, it seems to be moaning that you don't have a C compiler installed. See if you can get GCC installed, Fink will be able to help you with that.

Edit: Installing Xcode might solve it. Tools

You need to install XCode, and all of the latest software updates for XCode.
