I walked into a mac store today, and they had a G4 MDD 1.25 on display. I was amazed how quited it seemed. I put it too sleep and then woke it up while pressing my ear to the holes on the front and I certainly thought it sounded more quiet than mine. Of course the store is a big room full of ambient sound, and I have my mac in a cramped student room.
Do the current MDD G4 line up have different, more quiet fans, or was I just fooled because of distracting sound and a big room where sound escapes?

The Dual 1.25 MDD is much more quite then the 733 Quicksilver. They have much better fans. Well at least after that fan replacement program but ours already had it when we bought it.

The 1GHz MDD FW800 were supposedly much more quiet than the original MDD line up, but did they change again with the current 1.25 GHz available at apple?

I don't know, but I do have the 1.25 MDD Dual FW 800 that only boots into OSX.

My 1.42 is VERY VERY VERY quiet.
I can't hear it in fact unless I close up the windows, turn off the a.c., turn off the t.v...then I can just barely hear it.
