Facebook has updated the iOS version of
Messenger, adding a native iPad interface for the first time. Functionally the interface is similar to its iPhone equivalent, mostly displaying more contacts simultaneously, and providing extra screen space for images and text. Significantly though, iPad users don't have to switch between the contact view and message threads.
The core Facebook app for the iPad has supported messaging for some time, but buries the feature and uses a less fleshed-out format. Other changes in the Messenger update include the ability to save videos to a device's Camera Roll, and an easier invite system.
