This seemed to happen on the last update and I don't recall the solution. A lot of ad banners seem to be broken in Safari on my Intel iMac. Macromedia says run Safari in Rosetta: http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowled...fm?id=82216d24
Are they kidding?! I might as well go run a G3. Anyone have a fix?
Edit: This could have been also caused by Quicktime 7.1.2, which was updated at the same time...

The link you gave us says:
Shockwave Player has not yet been ported to run natively on the new Intel-based Macintosh computers and currently only runs in Rosetta emulation mode.
So 10.4.7 didn't break Shockwave, and neither did QuickTime 7.1.2. It never worked. There isn't much Shockwave content out there anyway. All the ad banners I have seen so far are Flash.

Yes, something did break because I'm seeing errors on various websites after the update, including MacNN. It's like a Quicktime icon with a question mark. I think I had to downgrade a plugin or something in 10.4.6 to get this working.
Does anyone have this problem with an Intel Mac?

I can't even view embedded YouTube videos in Safari now. For example, all I get is a QT icon with a question mark. Something is broken...

YouTube uses Flash not Shockwave. Flash did definitely not break by the system and QuickTime updates. Maybe you installed the Flash 9 beta which is PowerPC only. If so you need to restore the original Flash version from the system CD or the 10.4.7 update or download here.

It is Flash, not Shockwave, and here is the solution I found: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.p...1909&lsrc=osxh
A setting was reset during the 10.4.7 update and simply unchecking it in the QT prefs fixed it.
But please, I'm not stupid enough to install a PowerPC beta and then blame Apple. This happened before on an OS update and I am not alone. Are any of you experiencing this on Intel Macs, or are you on PowerPC still?

Does anyone have this problem with an Intel Mac?
Check you /Library/Internet plug-ins folder. Do you have a VLC.plugin there? If so, remove it. This has solved the problems for other intel-users. Saw this issue mentioned on Apple discussions.
Also, maxfixit reports that it might be related to the QuickTime Plugin.webplugin as well. Try removing it and see if it helps.

The short shall inherit the earth. Just you wait. You won't see us coming. We'll pop out from under tables, beds, and closets in hordes. So you're tall, huh? You won't be so tall when I chew off your ankles. Mofo
