Oldmama, I like that!

O'Bama, B Hussein O (and all variants), Barry, Messiah, so many great names to choose from!

I think I like O'Bama best, because Obama is clearly a secret Irish person.

Yeah, I really like saying "Oldmama," too -- but I don't know why. He's not old. He's not a mama -- but he'll always be Oldmama to me.

I will say, though, I truly do hope the best for the country. Things are difficult for people all over, and no, it's not Bush's fault (totally). There are a myriad of problems, and no one President is the root cause -- and no one President can solve all the issues. A lot of people really do see Obama as a Messiah-like figure, and that's just crazy on all kinds of levels.

My gut tells me he will win, and that in the course of his Presidency, he will turn our country down a road that will keep him from being reelected for a second term.

We shall see...

I don't mean to sound rude to others in here, but I honestly don't understand why anyone would honestly feel that this isn't anything but the Democrat's race to lose.

Put aside all of your beliefs, your faith in McCain, etc. The simple fact is that to your lay person, they start with the simple choice between somebody associated with a party that at the presidential level has scored the lowest approval ratings in the history of polling, and somebody new. This is a huge disadvantage for *any* Republican candidate to have to overcome.

Like I said, it's best to bet on a Democrat victory, and don't hope for much. Like RAILhead said, we put up with Bush for 8 years, it is time for the pendulum to swing the other way, as it has for decades whenever the public is unhappy with their president.

I hope we can agree upon the low popularity of Bush?

Obama has electoral points NOW? Boy, those ACORN guys really know their business!

Seriously, is that like the 8 points he was up a week or so ago nationally, but that "surge" has now subsided? Is that including a state like Virginia that normally has a 4-6 point Republican edge in turn-out, that they are now saying will have maybe an 8 point Democrat turn-out in order to show Obama up?

Remember, it was you who first pointed out the screwiness in state polls, and with all the wishful point giving to Obama, it wouldn't suprise me if they've already gave him ALL of the electorial points.

Again, watch the next week for the state polls to show Obama's electoral chances start to look not as hopeful. Even he is bracing his supporters for it - it's inevitable. Especially once the undecideds decide.

We are currently going through an international crisis. It's called the financial market meltdown, that is affecting the US and international markets. That's why Obama is up on the polls, because McCain is clueless on the economy.

No, it isn't a temporary surge, it has been an extremely consistent trend. The 264 points are the Kerry states plus Iowa. Find me a poll that doesn't show Obama strong in these states, and then we can talk.

Yeah...it's easy to cherry-pick polls.

Clearly, unless a poll shows a statistical tie, it can't be right.

Stupendousman: your highly revered Gallup Traditional LV poll has Obama up by 7% today. I don't mean to make this sound like I'm gloating (although it probably does, I apologize), but I'm just curious to see if this poll will be discredited by you now...
