Anyone have one?
I know you can get a lot of different weather monitoring stations where the instruments talk to a base station but I would like something that could talk directly to my Mac via WiFi. Thanks!

Is there a distributed weather monitoring mesh? I always thought it'd be cool if everyone in a neighborhood got a weather instrument with GPS, then all the data was automatically uploaded to a central server. From there you'd get super duper accurate weather readings for your area (or any area participating in a weather mesh).

Weather Underground let's you sign up to broadcast your weather globally. Lots of links to hardware/software there.

I'm always tempted by expensive and complex home weather stations, but I'm never sure why. I don't think the info I could get is as accurate or complete as what I get off my iPhone for free and no hassle, but it still really intrigues me. Someday when I have more money than I ought to I'll pick something up.
Let us know how your search goes and how your experience is.

Since when does "awesome" need an excuse?

Weatherbug has an option too. Cheapest is almost three bones though.

This program from the Weather Underground site looks promising ( WeatherSnoop). But the hardware costs were much more than I expected. I need to look into this more to decide a) how much data-gathering capabilities I want and b) how much money this is worth to me. I will keep you all up-to-date as my plans move forward.
