I bought a new Mac (I'm a Mac newbie, this is my first Mac) I got a few .avi files that I wanna see and Quicktime 7 doesn't plays them. What codecs do I need?

"main: no suitable decoder module for fourcc `WMV3'.
VLC probably does not support this sound or video format."

Then you are out of luck...it's probably using the latest and greatest WMV codecs.

MPlayer 1.0pre8 rc4...try that player and see if your file works.

If Windows Media Player can not play it, then you can't watch it on your Mac.

AVI is ridiculous. It's a single filename extension that represents a gajillion differing file formats.

Popped it open on my PC. Don't worry, its not that exciting of a video. Just a guy showing the edges of the nano.
