Nope, it's not a beer anywhere.

It belongs in the general category of "malt beverage." Malt refers to barley or grains that have been allowed to sprout somewhat before being processed. Beer is one subcategory of malt beverage. Drinks like Smirnoff Ice are in another (sometimes called "wine coolers") because they are made to taste like wine or fruit drinks.

the thing is, sure it's not an incredible amount of beer on a given night, whether you're talking about a weekday or weekend. But if he's doing it every day, then that's another story. I'll go out on a weeknight and have 10-15 Canadian beers, but there's no way in the world I'd be able to do 5 every night. His frequency is the alarming number to me.

I don't blame you for worrying, in fact I think you may be on to something. Have a quiet word.

You're only an alcoholic if you drink more than your doctor.

This is the classiest thread I've seen since the breasts posts.

When you were young and your heart was an open book, you used to say "live and let live."
But if this ever changing world, in which we live in, makes you give in and cry, say "live and let die."

Skalie, where have you been that you missed that? (breasts thread)

And by classy, I mean that what started out as a genuine inquiry into a dangerous social problem here has morphed into tawdry tales of who can hold their booze and what defines worthy beers for getting drunk. Awesome!
