I would like to know if it is possible to place a random part of my music collection onto an iPod that it will not fit on without having to manually pick the songs. I have been using a Shuffle, but going on camping trips, I only have 1GB worth of music, and would like to use an old model Nano if possible, but my music collection is larger than any of those models. I hope this makes sense, and thanks for any tips!

Create a new smart playlist in iTunes.
Under "Limit", set the amount that you want (e.g. 4 GB). Choose how you want it to be selected.

That should be it.
