Some guy decided to kick the shit out of an old man on the CTA. Cameras and witnesses all over, so he was quickly caught.

Turns out this isn't his first run in with the authorities.

http://illinoiscourts.gov/R23_Orders...110352_R23.pdf

This is a transcript of the court discussion of whether he would be allowed to act as his own defense on a previous charge.

Let's just say, he shouldn't. He really, really shouldn't.

It's long, but I couldn't put the thing down.

I read parts of it. It was mildly amusing because of the plaintiff's insistence that he could defend himself. His English does seem to be surprisingly good. Also shows how convoluted the court system seems to be by the need of some possibly complicated documents.

Though there are amusing parts, it's really just more... bizzare.

My ex said she wanted to deck the guy.

She's never said that before.

Whoops! Different defendant too.

I fully admit that's a pertinent detail which should have been in there.

AFAIK, this is the guy who owns the LA Clippers.

Doesn't matter, I'm sure Mongolia is a welcoming place for that kind of folks...

What's odd is his insistence on a speedy trial, but he's slowing things down by trying to represent himself. Almost makes me wonder if he just wants the 3 hots and a cot.

Wait, what? he got a new trial because he didn't get to represent himself?
