Things I wish ran faster are:
Photosynth
Game stage loading
App startup
...
That's about it. Are they?

You need to spec what we are comparing to. Everything is faster when compared to my 3G...

Compared to an iPhone 4. Everywhere I look, the 4S is just not worth the expense of money and soul for a typical iPhone 4.
This thread is just another way to find a sliver of reason to get the new Apple smartphone.

The big differences from the 4 IMO are camera, video and Siri.
Camera improvements are huge from the 3 but minimal from the 4:

Actually I think the real-world camera improvements are more than show in those comparison pix. Same for video.
Siri by definition is on a major learning curve (users and the AI engine both). Probably will really hit its stride with the iPad3 in H1 2012 or with the next iPhone.
Personally I would not upgrade a 4 to a 4s but upgrading from earlier versions the upgrade is substantial.

I don't think nearly anybody is claiming that you should trade in your iPhone 4 for a 4S. Apple spaces the major phone releases close to 2 years apart because that's usually when the average person upgrades anyway. The 3GS was better than the 3G, but more original iPhone users than iPhone 3G users upgraded, for that reason.
