Safari messing up Favicons

But only in my bookmarks bar. They appear find in bookmarks and in the address bar itself (and even stranger, in the 'Bookmarks Bar' in the bookmarks window the icons are fine. Just when a browser window is open do they appear blacked out like that. I've cleared the cache, reset Safari, restarted Safari a number of times and restarted the machine. I'm stumped. Any thoughts?

Why not streamline your surfing and get rid of favicons all together?

That actually does streamline the surfing for me as it's easier to quickly glance at a site's icon and select it than it is to read the names and select it based on the characters. But that's just me.
