Saw it last night. Loved it.

I keep playing parts over in my head... I'll probably go see it again. A lot nods to Bonds of the past. Felt nostalgic.

Craig was great per usual, but Javier Bardem was FANTASTIC as the villain!! I didn't read anything about the plot so there were some interesting surprises. As one review put it "perfect mixture of plot and action." If you are a Bond fan you will appreciate it and if you've never seen a Bond it will still be a great first one -albeit there are a few quips and lines about the past- but other than that the storyline is new.

Loved it. Bardem was excellent. Brilliant scene between him and Bond on the island.

Great to see just how much of the internet is sticking to the first rule of skyfall

Oh boy. Didn't like it. Saw it with four other friends (not Bond fans). They didn't like it.

Were you under the influence of any chemical substance(s) at the time, and are you right now? Was any sex attempted? Do you like Fruit Loops?

Dakar, I didn't think it was that amazing either.

Don't get me wrong, it was a good movie, but definitely not a 5/5. The computer jargon was stupid and the explosions just a little too over the top.

Also, the constant Sony Viao product placement got on my nerves.

People keep talking about product placement but I really didn't notice it... It couldn't be any worse than Tomorrow Never Dies.

I like gadgets but they weren't that necessary. So, no issues with those three items.

Saw it, liked it. This was a serious film about a serious issue for serious people to seriously take serious.

I can certainly see why certain demographics would hate this film, particularly if you like Bonds other than Connery, or if you are simply bored with the localized subject matter.

This film felt like a reboot of sorts, which I hope follows through with darker, more serious future 007 stories.

Wasn't Casino Royale a reboot of sorts that went darker? So you expect the next movie to be darkerer?

(The last 5 minutes was painfully predictable)

Good point on Casino Royale - but I think that film was a mini-reboot and perhaps the beginning of the darker Bond, not quite a reboot I believe.

Skyfall, I feel, puts it down clearly and says we're bringing this thing full circle and it's going to be dark from here on out.

I enjoyed it, but not as much as I thought I would. I made the mistake of listening to too many reviews that were glowing, so my expectations were a bit high. But, I'll watch it again. Craig is, to me, the best Bond.

I did notice an issue when a big something did something which would normally cause something inside that something to not work, but for some reason (an error) it continued to work.

Casino Royale was indeed a reboot. They even showed Bond getting his 00 license with his first two kills. QoS followed directly on from Casino, and yet by Skyfall we have both M and Bond claiming that they've been in the business too long. How did that timeline make sense?

I don't worry too much about continuity in the universe. Bond is timeless yet a cold war relic at the same time. They acknowledge the Ms have changed but not Moneypenny.

Suspension of disbelief works in different ways for everyone. Particularly when a movie takes itself so seriously.

If you cherry pick who to listen to in each thread, yeah. You're telling me that there aren't movies where the general consensus is positive on here?

Also, there's a difference between posting your opinion, and thinking it's a fact. It's the latter reviews that are obnoxious.

For the record, since I'm now being excoriated for being negative or something, I've seen four movies in theaters in the past month or two and this was the only one I didn't enjoy. I suppose my crime here isn't not liking it though, it's not conforming to popular opinion.

But if you are from/live in the south then it really doesn't matter because you are an ignorant retard. If not, you must own an Audi, Porsche and a sweet boat for your opinion facts to matter.

Roger Moore had some nice things to say about Daniel Craig:

To paraphrase: "To me, he looks like a killer. He looks as though he knows what he’s doing. I look as though I might cheat at backgammon"

It would be funny if Sean Connery came out with a scathing counter-commentary... anyhoo, the link to NY Daily news article:

Well, saw it last night. Good, but not great. And I'm not sure why, but there just weren't really any "oh, this feels cool" moments, like there were with Casino Royale. Despite the cheesiness of the bleeding-eye villain, that movie remains the best Bond movie IMO.
I wish I could describe a little better why I didn't consider it to be great....but I've been struggling on this one. Obviously, the villain...I don't know...simply didn't draw me in. Yes, Bardem played him gleefully over-the-top, but then for most of the movie he was just an angry guy with a gun who apparently was smart with computerz....nothing special there. And let's take the sets for example - lots of exotic locations, but I didn't feel any of them were even used in a way that would make me want to go to those places. Stuff like the deserted island...lots of potential, but it wasn't part of the story at all - simply "this is where the bad guy lives and what he did".
I dunno. Perhaps I'm over-rating Casino Royale - so I'm going to watch it again tonight, just to see if it actually has what I remember it having.
Mankind's only chance is to harness the power of stupid.
