I have an 8-core Xserve and its still a beast when it comes to heavy lifting. The problem is it seems to have blown a temp sensor on the logic board. I'll be damned if I'm going to replace a $300+ board for a 20c surface-mount thermistor but you wouldn't believe how the racket this thing can make when the fans are on full blast. You get used to it while its running but when you shut it down the sense of relief makes you realise it was actually painful.

Anyway, can anyone help me with this?

I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

Did you ever get this sorted? I have an 8 Core Early 2008 and the CPU Inlet 1 fan has decided to run at ~16000RPM as standard… could do with getting it back to around 4–5000RPM
understand your lives are rubbish

Alas, I did not. I might just have had an idea though. Watch this space.
