What's the best search engine as of October 2014?

Google, Yahoo, Excite, DuckDuckGo, Ask.com, something else... other than Bing?
I'm asking because I gave Bing a try (for two years) and lately Bing has torqued me off. Their servers keep having problems, which means that I have to use another search engine, just to search. And I have found myself weeding through so many TOTALLY irrelevant search results when I search for basic information. Once Bing's image search didn't work for 6 weeks straight. When image search works, it's great, but that's about it.
Any recommendations? Should I stick with Bing?

Is there something you don't like about Google Search?

I gave duck duck go a try, but it sometimes wasn't as accurate as google. however, I still toggle back and forth.

That's pretty much my approach, too. I use DDG for most basic searches, but switch to Google for something that might be more obscure or esoteric. DDG is getting better and better, though. Plus, there's the relative anonymity of DDG, too.

I use the duck the most, and throw in some ixquick as well. Privacy whenever possible. Then fall back to google for challenging stuff.

Ditto, I use duck duck go as per default and selectively search via Google. I switched as soon as the option appeared in Safari 7.1.

I still like Google, privacy be damned.
I'll give DuckDuckGo a go though.
