I have a 12-inch Powerbook G4 (the 1.5 GHz model, IIRC it is Rev. D) with built-in bluetooth and a Plantronics 510 bluetooth headset. The headset, although a bit outdated, is considered one of the very good BT headsets on the market and it works just fine with my phone. However, using the BT headset with the Powerbook results in a very low voice quality (both input and output).
I tried several VoIP programs, also recorded sound using Audacity -- the same low voice quality. Using USB headset with the same programs results in much better voice quality. I understand that a wired headset would produce better results, but the difference is quite significant. Also, the difference between the sound quality when using the BT headset with a cellphone and when using it with the Powerbook is huge. My hypothesis is that the Plantronics 510 headset for some reason doesn't work very well with the Powerbook, so I am looking to get another bluetooth headset.
Does anyone have any experience using other BT headsets with G4 powerbooks?

I use a Motorola H300 with mine. I got it for 29 dollars quite a few months ago, it was on sale. It takes a AAA battery, so it doesn't need to be recharged like other headsets, and the battery lasts for well over a month with my usage. Sound quality on iChat is fine, friends don't comment on it negatively.

I had a couple of BT headsets. I bought top of the range sony ones and they consistently failed to work with my powerbook/macbook pro. Now have a Jabra JX10 which has been superb, is very light and small and works with everything from ichatAV, skype, gizmo and my phone. can't fault it.
