I've recently started having some problems with my iBook. The other day it went into eternal load mode. The grey screen with the spinning wheel came up then after about 10+ minutes my desktop pict loaded and that was it. I loaded my instal disc and reinstalled Panther. (I didn't wipe the drive just the system) and POOF! everything was right with the world. Today it did the same thing except when I try to reload the system it doesn't find the HD.

Any ideas of what I can do?

It sounds like your hard drive is dead or dying. You might try disk warrior to see if you can resurrect it again (so that you can back up anything thats not backed up already). Perhaps others will have another repair utility or routine to suggest, but I think it may well be time for a new drive. Check the ifixit guide for how to do it in your model. Good luck.
