It has occured to me that my name is insanely common. There were seven Michaels in my grade in highschool. In one class, there were four. So I kind of wonder how many there are here.

Just go by last names. I had a class in School where we had three "Eric's". We all got tired of answering and trying to figure out who they wanted, so we went by our last names. Stopped all the confusion.

My name is Glenn. I have a friend named Glyn. The name can also be spelled "Glen" or "Glynn." In the early part of the 20th Century, Glenn was also a common woman's name; I have a classmate whose middle name is Glenn because HER GRANDMOTHER was named Glenn.

My dad's name is Dale. Extra points for finding the connection. Aside from the fact that he's my dad, of course; the connection between the names is what I'm talking about.

Oh, and my friend Glyn's middle name is Michael.

Michael in its various forms is the second most common name in the world. It's only surpassed by Mohammed and its variations.

I am Michael! (Though I usually go by Mike nowadays.) And yes, I definitely did the whole "going by your last name" thing for quite some time in grade school. Hell, I still know a few people who call me by my last name.

Any ramblings are entirely my own, and do not represent those of my employers, coworkers, friends, or species

My name is Michael. I have gone by Mike for a good few years.
I had never given any thought to how common my name was before I moved to the United States. Here Michael is such a common name. I grew up in South Africa and I would have trouble thinking of 5 other Michaels.
In the 3 years I've lived here I have met more Michaels than I ever have.

When I was in elementary school I didn't know any other Michaels. It was so rare I can remember telling two different teachers how to spell my name.

Middle name is, but it's spelled differently. Mikael. I'm a true outsider among Michaels.

Well, I answered no, but you never bothered to specify which "me" you're talking about.... (hey, we're listening here!) (shaddap, you!) (ooh, it's mister high-and-mighty dominant personality throwing his weight around again, I'm like SOOO scared!) (I hate you guys, I really do.) (Well, you're stuck with us. Oh, and none of US are named Michael, either, but you wouldn't know that as you've never bothered to learn our names!) (Odd, you act like your names are worth knowing....) (That's it! You and me, tonite, while we're sleeping -- it's ON in the subconscious!) (Don't blame me if we wake up with a black eye tomorrow....)

According to this survey, 25% of members here have Michael as their first or middle name. I like those odds.

I didn't specify first/middle or variations.

67% said no. That's 2/3rds.

Edit: Apparently it changed since I posted last.

Edit2: No, I wasn't paying attention and was looking at no votes, not percentage

**** numbers.

Yep and a couple others at work and we have a last name that starts with the same letter so the michael(insert first letter of last name here) doesn't work either. Can be very funny sometimes.
With some loud music + a friend to chat nearby you can get alot done. - but jezz, I'd avoid it if I had the choice---- If only real people came with Alpha Channels.......:)
