12-inch iBook G4 (Mid 2005), 10.4.9, Combo drive (CW-8124).

I'm not sure why with the same DVD movie, my iBook G4 seems to think the disc is dirty or scratch, but no problem watching it on my PowerMac G4 w/a SONY DW-Q120A DVD burner. The iBook G4 was in battery mode when watching DVD with plenty of juice. Any idea? I still have AppleCare on it anyway.

Maybe the iBook G4 optical drive has low rolerance on disc defects. In such a case, the only solution would be to copy the DVD and transfering the file(s) to the iBook hard drive. If it is worth the hassle depends on the use of course.

But does this happens with some or with any movie you tried? If the latter, then your drive is probably damaged.
