Meanwhile, Clarkson, Hammond and May are trying to come up with a name for their Amazon show https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7p-K34m6vuY

What's wrong with Currently Unnamed TV Show?

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

I like "The Clarkson, Hammond, and May Car Show on Amazon". But then, "Puddle of Excrement" or "Selling London by the Pound", are fine too, as long they just show the damned thing, they can call it whateverTF they want. "The Vajazzles", "This Week We Kill Richard Hammond", "3 Old Knobs", and "F*** the BBC" are decent too.

Top Gear Drama: Evans and LeBlanc relationship 'frosty'

Apparently their egos can't occupy the same space, for fear that it will tear the fabric of reality.

The first choice is good. May I suggest "We Three Imperialists", or "Piss and Blood", or maybe "BBC sucks except for David Attenborough" ?

I was hoping people here would be too smart to repost the made up garbage bullshit from The Sun that all of the car blogs are gobbling up.

I saw the one on those tippy trike things and was amused.

The funny thing is that previews for both shows already include more footage of the Reliant Robin.

The name of the new show is The Grand Tour.
The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.

Oh, and also the initials are the reversal of Top Gear, and GTs are Clarkson's favourite class of car.

The more publicity and media hassle they can create over the series the more money they will make.

I can't decide if the news stories about the new TG are just weak PR stunts or the bell tolling before its even begun.
I'm not particularly enthused for its debut. I'll watch it but I don't expect it to be that great.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

I feel that's likely not the norm, given the deluge of reactions and comments on social media.

I understand I'm an outlier here, but even if you're more excited to see the original three back on screen, I still don't get all the hate towards the new TG hosts — before seeing even a single episode.

I can't speak for others, but I don't like Chris Evans, he's a prat, and LeBlanc I can take or leave. In fact, the only presenter I'm looking forward to seeing is Chris Harris, and I've been told his part of the show isn't prominent (despite him being the best driver and most experienced car reviewer of the lot, with the possible exception of Sabine Schmitz). Frankly, I could watch 60 minutes of Chris Harris each week. Just take him, Matt Farah, Carlos Lago, and Maryeve Dufault (look her up) and build a show around them with the TG budget, it would kill.

I don't really have an impression of Chris Evans (although I have heard about his reputation). I am also most excited about Chris Harris and Sabine Schmitz as well, and I think the show could easily feature him more prominently over time. I'm meh about Le Blanc (I didn't really like Friends). But I think we should all be open to them and give them a fair shake. I reckon it'll take a season or two before the new format settles down.

I'm not a big fan of Matt Farah, his videos don't click with me (probably because our taste in cars is very different). Carlos Lago is a solid choice, but I find Harris kilometers more entertaining in a Top Gear sort of way.

I'm thinking in terms of people who have a certain charisma and who are great drivers. Chris and Matt have history, they're already mates and work very well together, much the way May and Clarkson synergize (the fat jokes would be epic). If Matt's not right for it, however, there's always America's version of Clarkson, Adam Carolla (they're shockingly similar). Carlos, well, he's sort of like the "Hammond" of the lot, though a better driver than Hammond ever was. And Maryeve, aside from being attractive (with a French accent), she's also a professional racing driver with a love for classic Alfas and an off-color sense of humor.

The bottom line is that Clarkson is hilarious and Evans really isn't in comparison. Evans can be funny, but its a very different kind of funny and its not really as funny. A lot of it tends to be driven by his ego but it seems like he is trying to be a serious motoring journalist and that isn't very funny.

Clarkson's TG was hilarious. Silly pranks & projects, winding each other up, controversial comments and exploding caravans. What more could you want? There were people who used to moan about all the supercars when they wanted a good review of a Toyota Corolla. Feels like Evans & co are likely to indulge those people, if only a bit.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

Outside of the UK people are not really familiar with Evans, so I don't know whether Evans' style will float my boat.

Variety. I felt it got pretty repetitive in the end, and the writers were running out of idea (e. g. for challenges). And I felt the focus shifted away from cars to the Clarkson/Hammond/May love-hate triangle. I hope they'll use the chance and inject some fresh ideas into GT.

Huh? I've seen no indication of that from the trailers, they have featured just supercars or ridiculous vehicles.

The Reliant trip was pointless. They reused the faked shooting-at-a-moving-car gag twice in a single episode. I feel like the "Matt doesn't know about the UK" bits will play better to the UK's audience. I guess I at least understood the "If they start talking like Braveheart" reference, but previously they'd show a map or explain where they were going. In this case, the joke is that the American doesn't know.

Rallycrossing stars is a fun idea, but really prevents any actual competition between drivers, as much as track conditions can change drastically from month to month and tenths of seconds don't really mean anything now.

I'm not ready to write it off yet. Everything takes time and I'm hopeful that they'll find their groove.

I'd like to have seen a few more tweeks to the format. Evans and co are not the old trio and they need to bend the show to their strengths, not try to take over where the others left off.

Be braver!!

Following the recent trend in the UK, Chris Evans is brexiting Top Gear. No new presenter will be recruited - the rest of the team will be reshuffled to take his place.

Thank the gods. Evans was so hard to watch and listen to. Just...annoying.
Now, can they ditch the stars-in-a-rallycross-car thing, and go back to the reasonably-priced car? That's so much more relatable.

I actually thought the episodes got quite decent over time, I enjoyed the last 3 or so quite a bit. The only thing is that the whole concept of having “ancillary presenters” didn't make much sense, the show was so much better with Schmitz, Harris and Reid.
