We currently manage a Bed and Breakfast, just for a few more weeks. I could swear on a Bible that it's haunted. Down in the basement is where the washers and dryers are.

Two days ago I put our laundry in, put the detergent in, and shut the lids on both. This morning I went to change it out and one lid was open, hasn't even washed or rinsed. The laundry is just sitting in the water with the lid open.

Now this is not the first time this has happened. I know for a fact that I shut the doors of the washers when I walk back up and then later I go down there to find either one or both in the up and open position, not going.

Our B&B used to be a field hospital during the Civil War. It was built in 1840 something. So it wouldn't surprise me if it is not haunted. I think the Yankees are playing tricks on me??? Simply cuz I'm a Braves fan and hate the Yankees.

Now that is a cool idea. We are only here until the 25th, so I doubt anything could happen that soon. Would be cool, though.

I've never ever noticed anything like that, and neither have the guests. Just the washing machine lids.

No it wasn't guests. Our basement door is in our part of the house, which locks up. They can't get down there. And it wasn't my wife, she's been out of town since Sunday night.

I can rest assure that there are NO Liberals living in my house. They might be dead liberals, as in ghosts, but not living Liberals.

Because you didn't close the latch all the way and the force of the water opened the door, causing the washer to turn itself off.

The latches are faulty, you're not noticing something you're doing when you close it, or someone else opened them.

I'm sure Civil Wars ghosts have much better things to do than to open your washer.

Oh trust me, I've been doing my own laundry for 22 years. I know I close the lids. And no one else is opening them because I'm the only one here.

Much blood was spilled over the southern states' rights to do their laundry with the lids open.

It could also be temperature change is causing various components in the washer to stretch/contract, causing the door to open.

You underestimate the skills of kids. They can get into nearly any location.

Like Chuckit suggested, you'd need to capture solid proof of any supernatural explanation. It's very hard to eliminate all the regular explanations.

I don't believe in ghosts or the supernatural, but I did live in an old house in which a completely empty bedroom's light kept turning itself on. Not faulty wiring either - the switch was flipped. Happened every couple of weeks for the whole time I lived there. Sometimes I'd notice the light shining under the bedroom door when I switched everything off for the night, and sometimes it would be on in the morning when I woke up.

There was nothing in the room, so there was no reason to go in there. The door was always closed. Freaky.

At least my underpants went unmolested.
