After have lots of problems with my Adaptec SCSI/FW card the 8945...I decided to call Adaptec and figure out why I can't get the firewire peripherals and software to work properly.
He gave me 2 reasons.
1) The card wasn't made for Storage, but rather for DV. Which is fine but this 2nd response was ridiculous.
2) Apple has removed the code that allows 3rd party cards to function in older macs in the new OS 9 Firewire extensions.
I find this hard to believe since both Ratoc and Newers cards work on a PB.
Anyone have anythought to this if it is true or not? How can Apple expect all of us to upgrade to those expensive G3/G4 systems!!
