Before I buy this, I was wondering if anyone can confirm that you can only save the files as iWork files and not as Office-compatible files. I know, if I have a Mac with iWork installed, that shouldn't be an issue. However, if I were to email the file to someone that uses a PC, they won't be able to open it. Thanks!

Well, iWork apps on the Mac let you open Office docs and save them in Office format (.doc, .ppt, .xls). I would assume iWork on the iPad would work the same.

And this confirms it:

Actually that's not true. While you can import some office files, you only have two options for exporting via Keynote for iPad:

IIRC, Pages lets you save Word files, but that's it.

Yep. Keynote and Numbers only do their own respective formats and PDF. Pages is the only one with an additional option for an Office format, at the moment.

Gotcha. Thanks all. I'll go ahead and buy it. Luckily I just need Pages to edit and create documents and so I'll start with that.

Ok so Pages fits the bill just fine for me while on the go. Can anyone comment on Numbers? I might get that but reading some of the reviews regarding formulas and Excel exporting don't seem so favorable. Thanks!
