Gosh, we haven't had a team competition for awhile now....

So, what's everyone think? Start one on Jan 1, 2006? Make a big push in a particular project?

Feedback?

How about a race starting next month? I vote for predictor or rosetta.

Rosetta is a GOOD candidate for a race. Very few of us are really in it yet and most would start at about ground level. It is easy to join and install, runs well under OS X and Windows, and gets the BOINC client installed for easy transition to a different project at any time.

Someone need to start a poll?

According to this link:

We are in 26th place on Rosetta as a team. A little pushing could easily move us up into the top 20. Anyone game?

We are now 21st as a team in total points, but 14th in production. With a few more recruits, we could be a top 10 team.

Got problems with one of my Win boxes (Athlon 2400). Thought it was the power supply, but now it looks like something else. Got a few spare parts around so maybe I can get it back up.

My iMac G5 is reserved right now for my photo work. Doing some heavy redesign of my web photo galleries and working with Adobe Lightroom beta. It was running a bit hot, so no DC on it for the time being. Can't afford to have it go down. That makes two boxes off line.

The other two big crunchers are currently on BBC Climate change for probably at least the next two months (very long work units). Looks like OneMacGuy will pass me before then in Rosetta. Just saw that Virex founded a Team MacNn on BBC Climate so just joined there. Should start adding some points soon. No Mac app though. Windows only, or maybe Linux.

Working too much and money is tight. No race for me right now.

UPDATE: Got the Athlon 2400 running again on Rosetta. Seems to be okay.

I have a bunch of machines crunching SETI BOINC, so far it's up to 34 GHz in total. But whomever/whatever 'E.T from Tellus' is, is up to 1.1 THz, fer cryin outloud. That's power.

But we should pick a project and race. Maybe get the rest of the board more involved too, so we cure something or discover something, other than large electric bills.
