Hi all, I've been contacted about the possibility of licensing a photo I'd posted to JPGMag's website for a book cover in Germany. I'm definitely open to such an arrangement, but I'm unaware of potential considerations of doing so.

I'm comfortable writing contracts explicitly defining usage rights for photos, having done so once before. That time, however, I was bartering with a resort at which I took the photos for a paid return trip in exchange for the photos (because it was THAT GOOD!).

What might a ballpark dollar figure be for a book cover photo?

In this case, I'll also need to get model releases for the two people in the photo…are there any other considerations I might need to address before continuing down this path?

As a photographer myself, I would consider the circulation of the book, the price of the book, and how much money they are going to make from it. Think big, they can afford it.
