I browse in Safari 3.1.1 and never log out from MacNN. Nor do I ever wipe out my cookies.
But every couple weeks (or so). I find that I have to log in again. Is that the usual expiration? I don't *see* a setting to choose my own time-out.
That'd be okay, but your log-in fields *do NOT* "remember me" - no matter how often I check that box before logging in.

Is this a MacNN feature? vBulletin feature?

...or just my own karma?

Firefox can autofill the login box.

Doesn’t happen here, I haven’t had to log in on this machine since the very first time, eight months ago.

I find that if that happens, it happens to ALL my sites, not just NN.

Exactly what puzzles me: MacNN is only site where checking the "remember me" isn't happening.

Search for a cookie belonging to this domain. If you only find one for your browser session, the cookie is not being issued properly. If you don't have one at all, your browser is not accepting cookies from this domain. The cookie is what facilitates keeping you logged in across browser sessions.

That's what i get from search in Safari cookies on "macnn"
I can't tell which one keeps me logged in (but which ever it is... it *is* keeping me logged in now.
I was expecting to some one that expired in a couple weeks - since that's about how long usually till I get (unintentionally) logged out.

Thanks for looking at this. Maybe it'll help my education in cookies/sessions.

You'd have to Google vbulletin and cookie to find out which one is responsible for keeping you logged in, but I wanted to ensure that you had at least one that was set to expire in the future. You obviously do.
