I have a lab of 30+ Macs and I'm looking to Partition the HD's & I was wondering if there is a ARD command to do this remotely rather than going to each Mac.

We will be having a group coming in that will be using a lab full of Macs and they will have their own image to put on the computers but as we still have students in the labs during the day we are thinking of putting the image on a second partition the day before.

Tks,

You can send a Unix command to partition the drive.

Stop using an apostrophe for plural words. You work at a school, man.

Ok, so time to go ahead and do this up but so far can not seem to find the correct command to use with ARD to partition the HD's.
Be a lot nicer to use a Unix command over logging into each machine to partition.

diskutil partitionDisk

Type that in Terminal and you'll be given a brief guide of how to use it.

Thanks ..... got it now.

diskutil resizeVolume disk0s2 140G(partitionsize1) JHFS+ FCS3 140G(partitionsize2)

needed to be able to do a re size as all 33 Macs already have an OS on the single partition. Didn't want to re-image the lab to partition so will run this command. This way the students still have their regular OS & a day or two before the Apple seminar we will image the second partition with an image then just need to wipe that partition after they leave.

You could also NetBoot the machines off a custom image, if your network is robust enough.

I had thought about this but when Apple takes over the room they will just image the extra Partition with they have pre built. This works for me, I will just wipe the partition after the session and will be there for future bookings.
