Yeah, I know, this thread is like a year late, and for a game that barely netted 1,000,000 in total sales. No matter. It got sparkling reviews when it came out and has gotten a fair amount of free DLC since then (Read: A day/night cycle, and bikes, notably). I just picked it up this weekend and was instantly addicted. It has GTA-style stuff to locate (Jumps, billboards, fences) and the online is pretty damn smooth. And it's only $20.

Boguesy, you need to scrounge up the cash. And Rumor, you need to trade in Revenge for Paradise on Gamefly. I can't imagine it's that hard to come by.

Anybody in here have this (even if you stopped playing it, ohhhh, 10 months ago)?

I have the game and enjoy the on-line part the most. Criterion games have a pod cast every so often. They definitely support their fans more than most game studios, are constantly releasing new cars, cycles and events. They have retuned many of the cars to better approximate the real world performance. I've gotten a lot of value out the game.
Cheers

so i downloaded the demo and it was pretty sweet, although i have such a hard time with racing games using fake cars, idk what it is.
I'm still up in the air with my next purchase...
EDIT: after reading the ign impressions of the mythic map pack i think my cash is best spent
20$ Lost and Damned
20$ Burnout
10$ Mythic Map

still have 10$ for the bar (instead of buying Halo Wars)

I hear that, that's what kept me going back to NFS for so long.

But guess what, this is still way better. You find any of the hidden areas?

Yea, the demo was awesome, really what kept my interest was the continuous action. Even when i flipped my car like a rally driver in a you tube video, i was back playing in a few seconds.

Exactly. Online reminds of GTA only with stats and resets. Whenever you're not racing, people are either doing stuff they could do in single player (crashes or time road rules, searching for the collectibles), or chasing each other for takedowns. And it takes like two seconds to drop you in a game, without a load screen. So smooth.

(I had one guy last night who took it real personal after I got 3 or 4 takedowns up on him. He chased me down for half the map, finally got me, and logged off)

I got it not long after it came out, and have played it pretty regularly. Back into it at the moment with the recent update, and the cars DLC coming out soon with lookalikes of TV and film cars (Ecto 1, KITT, BTTF De Lorean and General Lee), and the new Island coming out too. I've done over 300 gates, a few super jumps and about half of the billboards, although I see billboards quite often that I just can't work out how to get to. I like how it gives you a car every few races, and the day to night cycle is nice, even if I do avoid racing at the night times now and wander round billboard and gate hunting for a while . I've only played online one on one against my brother on my friends list, never tried the open online that I think you're talking about.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

Ha, I've had it two days and I'm missing 1 jump, 1 billboard, and 1 gate.

The online is good, just know people will come to take you down if nothing is happening. I already figure out how to thwart them, though - just crash into traffic.

Edit: It's a shame you're in the UK aj, for purposes of ever playing together.

I considered picking up the Burnout Box that just came out for PC, but I don't know if there is any kind of cross-platform support.

EDIT: I doubt I will. I've never been much a racing game fan and I still have GRID and my pedal and wheel set-up to get me by.
I have returned... 2020 MacBook Air - 1.1 GHz Quad-Core i5 - 16 GB RAM

I picked up the new cars. The two I've tried (DeLorian, KITT) are pretty cool.

I did embarrass myself last night. Some dude left an event driving in reverse and evaded (and took me down) driving half-way up the mountain like that for a few minutes. Also, quite a few Japanese in that game too. Always surprising.

I bought the cars pack too, had a drive around with all of them. Favourite would be the DeLorean and KITT, for the special bits they have. Also found a new area today, just off road near the junkyard on the west side of the map. There's this big area with a dirt track around the outside, and ramps in the middle over hangar buildings and through huge bits of pipes held up by cranes. Good fun was had hover jumping the DeLorean through the pieces of pipe, slowly wrecking the car. Oh and the DL's scissor doors flap around when it gets a bit wrecked.. Nice .

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

Yeah, the Delorean and KITT are the only two useful cars in the pack (KITT is helping me burn through the races big time).

As for the airfield which you found, you need to do more exploring, or do some of the Freeeburn Challenges online. They'll show you all the cool places (The stadium, the oval, the gravelyard).

I'll put this game on my list, but the first two up are Left 4 Dead and Gears 2.
I like my water with hops, malt, hops, yeast, and hops.

Left 4 Dead is a weird game to rent. It's not something you play everyday. Or alone, if you want to enjoy it.

I did find a nice glitch last night -- I joined a ranked game, won a couple races. Later, the host quit, and it appears I lost all credit for them.

Ha, I did just the same recently!
I had the Demo for quite a long time but bought the full version about a week ago, since I read that it now has a party mode, bikes...and all that for 20 bucks + 10 for the party mode.
Didn't have the time for serious action yet though!

Nice, I didn't know they did some (basic) stat tracking online.

Hard to believe I've had this game 8 days.

...which is not that much on my side for now.
I bought it, played for an hour and put it away because my girlfriend got annoyed of the motorcycle sounds...but I now officially hold a few motorcycle speed records on some streets!! At least that's what the game told me last week!

You like the bikes? I only played with them for a few minutes, but I wasn't enthralled and the rider-less bike seemed 10x more absurd during crashes than the driver-less cars.

And what do you mean by rider-less bikes?

Wreck a bike spectacularly. There's no body to be found.

I did the bikes again last night. Still not digging them. The no e-brake part is throwing me off, though.

Well last night I got my final cars, finished up all the burning routes, and I have only 3 or 4 races left. Then it's all Road Rage & Stunt Runs from here on out. Also something like 33 wins till my Elite License.

Just downloaded the toy cars pack, tried out the stunt car and F1 car. They're not toy car scale, they're just a bit smaller and funny proportions. Don't know why but I was expecting little RC cars to go around the full size city and traffic.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

They're incredibly annoying. They've made them like little tanks, so now any prick with them to can take down you with ease.

Is there some kind of fold in time and space where you are? Eight consecutive days would have three weekend days at the most.

Yep, every crash I had was a driveaway, never got to completely wreck the car at all.

No, I've driven the toy car version and the basic paint job is similar with the colour and stripes, but the sponsors are made up and you can change colours in the paint shop.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

Not at all, I have plenty of 2 player challenges to do.

However it's best you beat a good portion of the game before we do anything, since you'll need good cars and an understanding of the layout of the city.

Now if only we could bribe Bogues into joining us...
