This report just got my attention:

FBI: Ex-Subway Spokesman Jared Fogle Had Sex With at Least 14 Minors

August 19, 2015: According to documents released today by the U.S. Attorney’s office, Subway Jared is going to jail for a while: he’s pleaded guilty to charges that he had sex with at least 14 minors and collected homemade child pornography from the president of his charitable foundation.

The allegations go well beyond the initial reports that the long-time Subway spokesperson merely possessed child porn on his computers: according to the new documents, Jared Fogle regularly trolled the internet for underage escorts, ultimately paying for sex with at least 14 minors in rooms at “upscale New York hotels” like the Plaza and the Ritz Carlton.

I'm pretty sure this story is going to be all over the airwaves since so many people have seen the Jared the Subway Guy commercials.

So, does reading this make you not want to support Subway anymore? Do you want to go somewhere else for your sandwiches?

Until it comes out that the steak and cheese sandwich on Italian herbs and cheese bread is also a pedophile...

Yes, I will still eat at Subway.

The only excuse I can think of to eat there is there's no Firehouse, Schlotzsky’s, Quiznos, or Jimmy John’s in your area.

The only thing I even like at Subway is the Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki sandwich. If I get a taste for one of those I certainly would continue to patronize the company. It's not as if they were a party to this guys shenanigans. But for any other type of sub it's Quiznos or Penn Station for me.

The NYT piece on Amazon is way more troubling. Jared is just a spokesperson who most people forgot existed.

Yeah, 16-17 is really grey, in many states 16 is the age of consent. It definitely isn't pedophilia (as many news sources have been saying).

Japan will disagree (though I think this is going way too far) :

Yeah, that's not pedophilia. (And we all know that Japan is screwed up anyway, so there's that, too).

Yup, 3 teens that are 16-17 years of age. He plead guilty to 2, both were 16.

The irony is, I've gotten the impression actually banging underage girls is something of a national pastime.

ot but uh, yeah, it's a weird thing, like the Captain said, the culture as a whole has its issues. Spend enough time there and you soon realize that something is off when you have 16-17 year old flirtatious schoolgirls wearing essentially miniskirts running around, plus the obvious squid rape stuff (which I can't figure out), yet the country is furiously conservative about sex, hence the negative birth rate, yet there's Otaku culture and extensive prostitution centers. huh?

Where I got insight on the pervy, underage stuff noted a Big Mac at a Japanese McDonald's is always perfectly made. Like it could be used in a product shot.

My nephew asked about hentai... I told him that certain people will always be fascinated by the thought of unusual things probing a woman's genitals and that it usually stems from severe sexual repression.

This is me just connecting the dots, so I could be way off base.

Penetration with a wang is so horrifying, it needs to get censored. A tentacle, if you work at it, is kinda sorta wang-like, but not so wang-like as to trip the censor.

It's sort of like getting around a YouTube takedown by slightly shrinking the original, and and making it out of an octopus.

That's the logical conclusion. I'm frightened logic may not apply here.

Going into an even further aside here, I've been reading into Japan's history. We often are amazed at the heinous things they did during WWII, but looking into their past, that type of hyper-aggressive brutality is the norm. Thieves getting chopped up and left in the streets to rot. It's a society of strict formality and custom punctuated by vivid violence and indifference. Gore was somehow less disturbing than broken tradition.

It's a helluva place. They stopped chopping people up though. I must say they have the highest standard of living I've ever seen - everyone benefits, not just the rich.
