Joel's hired Felicia Day to be the mad scientist. Not exactly the direction I was expecting.

Their kickstarter was a huge success. They raised $5,764,229 in donations which is more than what Veronica Mars received.

I remember looking at this once and wondering what the fuss was about. I'm not sure it was funny to non-Americans.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

Joel was the best IMO. I wouldn't say Mike sucked, but yeah Joel was much, much better for this.

I read one of the investors is long time friend of Joel: Jerry Seinfeld. They will never be short on funds again!

btw MST3K brings back a lot of memories for me - the 90s were a frickin train wreck for me and MST kept the levity up.

I have it in for Mike because of all the wasted potential.

In a similar way to Joel's schtick being "sleepy", Mike's (good) schtick is deranged.

That the show needed to go in a new direction because of this was obvious to me, but not anyone working on it.

I honestly wonder if they understood what made the show work. How they played Mike makes me think they didn't.

Example of Mike at his best (performing as an evil space clown):

"Want a salted nut log, little girl?"

How many years ago was that? Still stuck in my brain.

Had they made it become the "Satellite of Death", with the bots unwillingly thrust into the role of the voices of reason, it would have been just as good as the Joel stuff.
