Mr. Eisner, 62... said today that... he was stripped... by... Stanley Gold and Roy Disney....
hee hee.

No, really:
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal published today, Mr. Eisner said his decision to announce his retirement was his own, and was "not asked for, not motivated by current circumstances at all."

But Mr. Eisner has been under tremendous pressure within the company. In March, he was stripped of his chairman's title at the annual board election after an unusual no-confidence vote by shareholders. And even now, two dissident investors and former board members, Stanley Gold and Roy Disney, the nephew of the company's founder, are said to be planning a prexy fight to oust him.

Disney is also facing a shareholder lawsuit, which is scheduled to begin in October, brought against Mr. Eisner and the board over the $140 million severance package paid to Michael Ovitz, the former president.

....

"It has been a fantastic Disney ride for the past twenty years," he said. "I can only conclude by telling you what I am doing next. I'm going to Disneyland!"

And why do you think Jobs is necessarily right for Disney?

Would it be appropriate to sing 'Ding Dong the Witch is Dead' yet, or should one wait until it actually happens?

The only decent Disney films these days are the ones that are developed by Pixar so once he lost the Pixar contract I think his fate was sealed.

I dunno..... Pooh and Jobs don't seem to go so well together! I think the the Disney Castles would be replaced by giant iPods, and vegan dishes would soon be the only food in the park!

Unfreeze Walt's brain! They can just put it in a jar and he can run things from there!

For the sake of Disney, I don't understand why he doesn't step down as soon as a new CEO can be found. I want Steve to stay with Apple.
