I have a 12" PB 867, it's been working perfectly ever since I got it. As of the past week though, whenever I put it to sleep, Ive noticed the pulsating sleep light has been extremely dim. I can barely even see it, whereas before it was super bright. This happens whether on battery or plugged in, and I also tried setting the screen brightness to max before putting to sleep to no avail.

Any ideas what this could be?

Not sure but when I 1st got my 12" 1Ghz model, the sleep light did not pulse at all. As its my 1st mac I didn't know it was supposed to. When I upgraded to panther it started pulsing and I was worried something was wrong, but then my mac friends let me know it was supposed to...

sorry this doesn't help much but just wanted to let ya know you're not the only one whose had problems with the sleep light on the 12" PB.

PS. I had no noticable problems with mine when the sleep light did not pulse. It ran like that for about a month from the time I got it till I upgraded to panther.

Ok i have this problem too. Try shoving it in a little without letting the lcd to open. It fixes it temporarily.
I took it to the apple store and they said I would have to turn it in. Not worth it (even tho it's under warranty).

My guess is this happened after updating to 10.2.8. If so, try resetting the PMU. It will help for a while but the problem will eventually return. I wish I had stuck with 10.2.6.

Is it pulsing dimly when you put it to sleep with the lid open or closed? IOn the 15" PBs there's two brightness settings for the sleep light - very bright with the lid closed, and very dim with the lid open. It's likely to be the same on the other AlBooks.
It's arrived - 15" PB 1.25Ghz - Damn is this a fine machine!

For my PB, sleeping with lid close or open gives the same brightness on the white LED.

Mine's pretty bright.
