Hey Synotic, I've been using your Platinum theme for the last week. It totally ROCKS!!! I never thought that I would like Platinum, but the mix of aquaesque shadows and alpha channels really works. The widgets are also much nicer.
Looking foward to the next release. Hope to see folders in that one as well

That theme is pretty nifty; but I'm really surprised you didn't grab the "Classic in X" icon set from xicons and hack'em in to the HIToolbox.rsrc file. That would nearly complete the OS 9 makeover!

There are a lot of beautiful desktops out there, but I haven't seen any as dynamic, full of life and informative as this: a transparent, animated desktop (so you can still get to the desktop icons, usually...) with an overlayed printout of the running processes' memory and CPU usage. It starts out pretty tame, and gets out of control over time:
when it's still tame...
when it gets out of control....
Notice that you can still get to the hard-drive icon (sometimes it gets covered, so you have to clear the animation or wait for it to reset). The randomized animation updates in realtime, and my system takes anywhere between 10% and 60% of the CPU. Also, the list of processes on the left side of the desktop updates every 10 seconds, and the update period is completely adjustable. In the first image you'll notice the visual artifacts around the edges of the left-side desktop text, window shadows, and along the border of the animation. I haven't figured out why it does this, but I suspect it's related to messed up alpha values in the animation's layer (it corrects itself as the animation covers the screen).

I actually tried to get the HIToolbox.rsrc that I made from Phoenix's icons.. but they didn't show up.... I like phoenix's better than the classic in x..

First, thats not a terminal, its a console...and its done with an app named DesktopConsole, you can get it here
