My mom has a Macbook (white, the cheapest) that's about 1,5years old.
A few weeks ago she told me that her macbook is broken because the keyboard doesn't work anymore! I came by and found out that I could only type numbers...but after a little research (I never owned a notebook) I found the num lock key and turned it on - keyboard was now working again but only caps...so I also turned the caps lock on...and finally everything worked as usual, except that both lights were ON instead of OFF!!

I fixed this with a PRAM reset and I also took out the battery and after a few restarts everything was as it should be.

Since last week the problem is back but I cannot fix it anymore this time!!

Any ideas??

is there an external keyboard in play? I've had this happen with some kind of interplay between sleeping, wireless keyboard.

No, no external keyboard - just a standard MacBook with no extras!

Sorry to hear that you are having troubles. I have to say that it would be pretty trick to get this to work under circumstances that you are controling.

Create a brand-new "test" admin user account, and login to that account. Does the keyboard still do the same weird stuff?

Yes, I already tried that!

But as of yesterday evening the problem is once again gone!
Just for how long this time.....??

Seems to be a hardware problem that is rare but not individual!?
