So I really want to hook my MBP up to my 32" LCD and run WOW In closed lid mode, but am concerned as my MBP already kicks on the fan immediately as soon as I start playing WOW...is this a bad idea? Do any of you guys run a external LCD and play in closed lid mode?

Any other thoughts? Windowed mode I think is what it's called...should I do that instead?

I wouldn't worry about it. Your computer is smart enough not to overheat to the point of damage. If it does start to overheat, it'll go to sleep, but if it's doing that it's having hardware problems.

Intel CPUs throttle when they get too hot. The formula is a bit complicated and depends on the load level, but at full blast, they throttle at 62C IIRC. In practice, this means that the CPU will never go over 62C, but you may notice framerate drops if the cooling in sufficient. CPUs wear faster the hotter they run, but you're not going to see spontaneous failure at 62C.
