I have my Pismo PB connected wirelessly to our hospital network and am noticing some rather strange behavior. For whatever reason I have noticed the PowerBook becomes sluggish and unresponsive intermittently. I have run top in Terminal and found that the Finder process is claiming 85% + of the processor. Re launching the Finder has always fixed the problem, but I am growing tired of having to do this.
There is a HP Business Inkjet 2600 across the hall that I print to from time to time. I noticed yesterday that if the print job is unsuccessful for whatever reason that is when the PB becomes unresponsive. Is there any reason that anyone can think of that would make the Finder respond in such a way?
TIA,
JRJ

on my computer the HP Communicator driver can go berserk and hog resources. Check it using top in the terminal and kill it if it is haywire. Sometimes there is more than one.
Also check for new drivers.
this is a known problem.

Well it hasn't happened for a day or two. I do remember that the only process with significant processor time after a 'top' was Finder. I didn't even note a HP Communicator process in the list. The driver issue may be a different. I used the driver OS X had installed for the HP 2600. When it didn't work, I thought I would try downloading that driver in particular from the HP website. Anyway Boon, thanks for the tip.

Sometimes my Finder will take up 60%+ resources and I just end up killing the mofo and relaunching it, does the job, not sure why it does that though. I DO have an HP printer.

I would check HP for new drivers, although I've got the new ones and I'm still getting the problem occaisionally after printing.
