Just installed Tiger and everything is real snappy and great so far except one thing: HTTPS/secure connections don't work. I called my ISP and they couldn't help, even had a guy who knew a lot about Macs and what Tiger was all about. iTunes Music Store doesn't work, niether does any sort of secure connection. It's real weird, every other type of networking works just fine. Need help, any ideas?

Works fine for me and I would say it's even faster than before.

Do you notice any messages in the Console, especially anything on port 443?

No, there's nothing about port 443 in the console. Might just be a bum install I guess, I'll probably just redo it if no one figures it out soon.

Can someone check....I mean "guess" as to if secure WebDAV will mount as a "Connect to server?"
My school uses a secure webDAV and it sucks cause I have to use a crapy wrapper to get it to werk and then it crashes.

The build is 8A428. And under further investigation it seems it's just Apple apps that can't use SSL. Camino seems to be able to do this just fine. Any ideas? (Switching to Camino isn't an idea either, I need my iTMS!!)

Check your proxy settings. All of Apple's apps respect those, but Camino does not. If they got turned on accidentally, that would explain things.

Proxies would explain it, but they're all off. It's the weirdest thing, I even did a clean install and I still can't do SSL with Apple software. Guess it's back to Panther 'till it gets worked out.

Ya, two folders named Anchors and Certificates. Filled with a bunch of documents that I don't understand. I think you're on to something though because when I try to use Mail, it says something about not accepting certificates.

If the certificates/reinstall solution doesn't work, is there any chance it could be a problem with your router/broadband modem that just happened to manifest when you installed Tiger (ie, very coincidental)? I know you said that non-Apple programs work, but it's probably worth checking if you still can't figure it out.

Are you using a wireless connection? Are you behind a firewall being set up by another device?
For example, if I share my G5 ethernet connection over wireless with the firewall on, no secure pages can be loaded on a wireless client.
Turning off the firewall fixes the problem. I think it is VERY unlikely that a "bad install" is preventing you from loading secure web pages...but what do I know.

So I completely reinstalled Tiger and it still doesn't work. Hopefully this is just something my ISP can fix after tomrrow. Thanks for the responses everyone.
