15" or 17" studio display

i visited my friend's place and noticed his apple asd LCD was relatively "small" standing beside the g4 tower. So I asked if it was a 15" and he told me it was a 17"! i peeped at his system profile and the max resolution the display could support was 1024X768 (typically 15" . is this the dead giveaway?) but he still insisted it was a 17". i checked out his graphics card and it was a nvidia 32mb. hmmmmmmmmm. does it matter which OS he was on? anyway, 10.2 jaguar.
soon, i left wondering what display i was looking at.
*still puzzled*
the dimensions measured off the display diagonally was 16inches! he comppared it with a 17" CRT and they looked the same.
anyone has a pic of both 15" and 17" side by side. or the dimensions of the display from one end of the left stand to the other? thanks

15" = 1024x768
17" = 1280x1024 (?)
You'd know if it wasnt running the native resolution - blurry and crappy.

Hmm, I'm thinking about getting a 17" monitor for my 12" Powerbook, whose native resolution is 1024X768. So, how do I keep the image on the monitor from being "blurry and crappy"? If I need to adjust the resolution, how do I do that?

The powerbook doesn't need to use its 1024 x 768 resolution with an external screen (unless you are mirroring the internal display). It will use whatever resolution the display has. Depending on how old it is, the powerbook can drive up to a 1920 x 1200 res display in addition to the internal 1024 x 768 LCD.
