I'm attempting to rip a bunch of TV shows off DVD for viewing on my iPod, and one episode on one DVD crashes Handbrake. I have even ripped the whole disk with Mac the Ripper and then attempted to convert with handbrake to the same effect.
Are there other utilities, even ones not as nice as handbrake, that I could give a try?

I was looking for something similar too. Ripping the episodes one at a time takes so long to do.

Unfortunetly there is better on the PC side. But either way, you HAVE to use MTR to rip the DVD, after that you have more alternatives but they are all about the same in speed.
Also consider getting an external drive with a good read speed. I got a firewire sony one and it rips a DVD in 10 min when the superdrive that came with my G5 takes 50 min.
