I see that there is an irc.macnn.com server. How about adding a channel for Team MacNN?

I tracked down one of our IRC admins, since I haven't personally used IRC in a long time, and didn't know the score today. He's running on his iPhone on a trip, and will not be on IRC until this Saturday. But it sounded like we could set up a Team channel.
Updates when something happens, hopefully this weekend.

Very cool! Team SETI has one, and I've been hanging out there. Good stuff if we could do something similar.

OK, I've gotten the word back. Current instructions are to go to irc.macnn.com
Then join #teammacnn which will create it temporarily if no one started it earlier. If it proves popular, they'll look into registering it so the server keeps the channel up all the time. Until then, the channel will shut down when the last person leaves.
I checked if we could just use "team", but it wouldn't be a safe name. Our IRC server is also used by MacObserver and iLounge. MacObserver at least has a DC team, I'd assume iLounge does too.
We could just use "team" anyway, and see if any potential recruits wander in.
Feedback please. Whichever channel name we go for, I'll add it to our resources sticky, and to the team website.

Thanks! One thing, don't we need a bot to manage the place?

If memory serves, bots were for triggering various text effects. The commercial bots were there to post advertisements for fake phones, watches, etc. Until they got bumped from the server.
Do we need a bot?

#teammacnn is now running on irc.macnn.com.
Everyone feel free to drop in to ask questions, help provide answers, or just to shoot the breeze!

ChanServ is a IRC bot (not all bots are bad you know), if the channel gets popular you could add another one. Google IRBOT and Supybot, they work well.
Best IRC client to use: Linkinus ($20) or X-Chat Aqua
N00b friendly: Conversation
Worst IRC client to use: Colloquy, its as buggy as a rain forest.
(PS, you can always msg me (Catsceo) on irc.macnn.com when you need help )
