For a brief moment with these old threads, I am pleased to see the old members posting... then I wonder where they went.

Others may have been first, but I think the Aerosmith/Run DMC remake was what literally broke the walls down between two genres and helped rap be more mainstream.

I'm not sure about first song- but probably something by DJ Kool Herc- generally known as the grandfather/creator of Hip-Hop.
Rappers Delight definitely was the first song that "sold out". But I doubt it was the first "rap" song.
