Why, with the wonders of modern technology, do we need forum archives? Makes searching for something within a specific forum just that bit harder.

And why then, are we no longer archiving? The current archives are half, or a fifth the size of what the current equivalent forums are, so it'd be about time they got done again. If technology is now at the stage where they no longer need to archive again, why not merge the old archives back into the relevant forums?

So many questions. My brain needs to lie down.

i suggest they be scraped, in favour of ferret archives. it makes perfect sense.

the archives are being used. i just added a year to them a couple weeks ago.
one big reason for them is so that people don't bump insanely old topics. because even though i love using my 'zombie thread' graphic, i'd rather not have the old topics bumped in the first place.
