I’ve been using a small MPIO DMK for several years and would like to step up to a Nano. Since this will be my first iPod, and I haven’t followed the product line closely, I’m curious how long I’d need to wait for the price of the Nano to drop?

It seems Apple introduces new iPod models frequently, so I would assume as each new model is brought to market, the price of the existing models comes down. Has this been the case?

TIA.

Sure, generally when Apple revs a product it ends up that prices go down. For example, if the were to introduce a 6 GB Nano, I would expect it would go for $249, and they would bump the 4 GB model to $199, and drop the 2 GB model.

But, the Nano was just introduced! I'd bet you'd wait 6-9 months for a new one to be introduced. So waiting is probably a silly idea, now.

If you want a good deal right now, go buy an iPod Mini on blow-out close-out.

I guess I’ll just pay-up for the Nano. While the Mini might be had for a good price, the main reason I’d held off the iPod for so long is that I’m not a fan of HD based portables. It’s the flash memory of the Nano that makes it so attractive (as well as the super slender profile).

Believe it or not, I’m more interested in the Nano for Podcasts as opposed to music. I travel around the world about 2 weeks each month and Podcasts are a great way for me to download and listen to news, etc from back home while I’m on the road.

Isn’t technology awesome!

Thanks for the response.
