I would like the forum's opinion on which upgrade would give the most bang for the buck on a Mac Mini:
1. Upgrade to 1GB of RAM and a 7200rpm HDD.
2. Upgrade to 2GB of RAM and leave the HDD alone.
Which would you choose?

I'd go with 2. 1gb is kind of tight.

I agree with Icruise. If you really use the mini for more than just web browsing, mail, etc. 1 GB is kinda tight. The 7200rpm is a great upgrade, and believe me, when you boot (or copy large files for that matter) you'll immediately notice the faster disk, but I'd put RAM first. Why don't you start off with the RAM, save some cash and then upgrade the disk too?

2 gigs of RAM. But if you do a lot of copying of large files and stuff, a faster hd is also helpful.

Depends on what you're using it for, like always. For me, I'd probably go with 2GB of RAM since I wouldn't want to hassle with selling the 2x512 later. Also, I would use the machine primarily for development so a slight increase in disk access speeds wouldn't benefit me very much.
It's easier to upgrade to the 7200rpm later on.

1gb to 2gb > 5400 to 7200

I haven't opened up my mac mini yet, but just curious on the type of HD that's in there currently. Is it a normal size HD or is it like a laptop or a iPod size hd? oh yeah while we're at it, is it IDE or SATA?
